Palm Springs is an amazing place. It’s where mountains meet boutique shopping and Hollywood celebrities. At the feet of the San Jacinto Mountains, this southern California town offers all of the above for every guest that wanders that way. With all the comforts of a well planned vacation at the doorstep of outdoor adventure, Palm Springs is an easy choice for any travel destination.
The last time I went to Palm Springs I stayed at the Renaissance Esmeralda Resort and Spa and the Miramonte Resort and Spa. Both hotels were around thirty minutes from the airport, and don’t worry, most hotels offer shuttle service to and from. As far as getting around when you get there, you can either rent a car or take a cab if you don’t feel like walking.
The Renaissance was beautiful. It’s newer with all the comforts of a four star hotel, complete with a spa, a restaurant, and a bar. The Miramonte, also a four star hotel, went beyond the “hotel” feeling and offered 2-story bougainvillea-covered villas for a village like setting.
Other hotels in the area include the Wyndham Palm Springs, JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort and Spa, and the Westin Mission Hills Resort and Villas. All hotels offer their own brand of away from home comforts, fine dining, and night time entertainment. Breakfast at the Westin was my favorite. The breakfast service was spread out through multiple rooms and each room featured a different style of delicious morning time foods.
Want to know what you can do while in Palm Springs? A lot! During your stay you can take a ride on the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, play a round of golf at Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort, or explore the Indian Canyons.
If the outdoor life is not what you’re looking for, stay in town and get a tour of the city to see where famous celebrities like Lucille Ball, Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra, and Elvis Presley stayed. Interesting fact, all the celebrity homes you see are furnished with original furniture used by the stars that lived there. Once the tour is over, there’s still a lot to do. You can catch a show, go shopping in the many boutiques in the area, and enjoy fine dining or a fun night out on the town. Whatever you want, it’s all there for you to enjoy in amazing Palm Springs where the mountains meet shopping and celebrities.
